Costs

The cost of the tournament is £12. If you have already paid, please do remind me and I can put a tick next to your child’s name. Please don’t be offended if you have paid and we ask you again on the day.

Rules & Refereeing style – please note all age groups will employ a 2 meter rule where children cannot receive the ball meters from the goal. This is because last year we did see a lot of goals scored from almost in the opposing goal…

9 and under rules
> players can catch with two hands, but can only throw with one hand
> players can not walk on the bottom with the ball, if they want to move with the ball they must swim with it
> when a goal is scored both team nut return quickly to their own halfs
> It is non-contact, players cannot touch the player or the ball, they must block
> No players apart from the GK are allowed within 2 meters of the goal

Ball size: 1.5
Pool depth: 0.9 – 1.2 meters

11 and under rules
> players can only touch the ball with 1 hand and only throw with one hand
> players can not walk on the bottom with the ball, if they want to move with the ball they must swim with it
> when a goal is scored both team nut return quickly to their own halfs
> It is non-contact, but players can knock the ball out of opponents hands
> No players apart from the GK are allowed within 2 meters of the goal

Note: the refereeing will let some things go, but blatant use of two hands or jumping will mean a reversal of possession.

Ball size: 2
Pool depth: 1.4 meters

13 and under rules
Note: We know there are a number of players in this age group who have not played before. Don’t worry, just get stuck in, it is a fun tournament. Here are some videos to help you on your way:

Rules, will be normal water polo rules, again the refereeing style will try to keep the game flowing.

Ball size: 3
Pool depth: 1.8 meters

What to bring

Bring 2 towels, last year the stairs got very slippy so use one towel to dry before going back into the spectator area

Food
Bring change for the raffle 🙂

Raffle

We are running a raffle in aid of The Firefighters Charity. If anyone would like to donate a prize please do let me know.

Support

Please do stay and support we really want to create a great atmosphere. If you have any horns, drums, vuvuzela’s… don’t be afraid to bring them along…

Looking after your child

Children under 8 will need a parent to present at all times, this only impacts the 9 & unders.

Children 8 and over can be dropped, but I will need written permission via email before the tournament. Your child will not be allowed to leave the building unless with a named adult, again please tell me who this is. I need to know this information by Thursday evening please.

Photos/ Video

We will have a box on our registration document to allow us and other parents to take photo’s/ video of the games. Again if you are not there with your child, please email ahead with permission.

 Absence or attendance

If for one reason or another you cannot attend or now want to attend please keep me up-to-date.

Any question please ask and I can add them here 🙂

Extra information

Parents will not be allowed on poolside unless there’s an injury to a child or in any other unforeseen circumstance.

Children cannot leave to go into the fun pool. That is out of bounds as I have been told by the pool staff.

Please bring change for the lockers at both venues.

All the best,

Matt
